Hame buys the biggest Czech producer of frozen vegetables

Hame Group realized an acquisition of AGRIMEX Vestec a.s., the largest Czech producer of frozen vegetables, vegetable mixes, fruit and other frozen ingredients.

"The acquisition of AGRIMEX is a big thing for us. In several of our segments we are domestic market leaders. By the purchase of that progressive Czech food company, we are entering into an entirely new category of frozen foods that will naturally complement our existing portfolio of pickled vegetables, in which we are the largest player in the country. Thus we are opening a new distribution channel," Martin Štrupl, Hame Group’s CEO, commented on that purchase. "The production of AGRIMEX is very modern and automated and, moreover, takes raw materials from local Czech farmers, which is an advantage," Martin Štrupl added.

The AGRIMEX production plant in Panenske Brezany, which lies near the fertile growing regions of Litomerice and the Elbe valley less than 10 km north of Prague, is thus becoming the eighth in order Hame’s production plant in the Czech Republic.

"We have long considered what to do next with the firm. After all, we had established it more than 20 years ago and we felt that we’ve gotten it as far as we could, and that the company now needs a new impetus. The merge of AGRIMEX and Hame makes strategic sense and is mutually convenient. Hame as a renowned Czech company has the right know-how and the resources to enable AGRIMEX further develop thanks to that connection. And as a company with a strong position on the Central European markets, Hame will certainly be able to get AGRIMEX products to new customers and new markets abroad," says the current owner Ryszard Nemoudry.

AGRIMEX was founded in 1995, and currently has nearly 70 employees. In 2016, its sales reached CZK 260 million. The company will be fully integrated into the Hame Group which is since December 1, 2017, part of the Orkla Group.
